Pregnancy pact? Sounds crazy to me. Not silly, or stupid… full blown, out of your mind, lock ‘em up crazytown. Would moral relativism be to blame here? Abandoning reason and reality for hedonistic narcissism? How about just simple disregard for human life? Odds are, a life of poverty awaits 70% of the babies. Well done, kiddies.

I love that cartoon. :) Brilliant!
Side rant: I thought abortion was supposed to reduce these situations, as women would be sufficiently liberated from childbirth to pursue educational opportunities and feel as if they have a better life waiting for them.
Oddly, all that happened is that we’ve seen children as commodities (big surprise), who can be both destroyed and made for the pleasure of their parents, not for their intrinsic worth.

Hi Bridget,
I agree. Exploiting the young primarily, creating a billion dollar mega-business, by ending pregnancies, app. 48 million babies since 1973,was the primary goal all along, not the usual moral screed about reproductive rights. Margaret Sanger and the board of Planned Parenthood are amoral, at best.
This mess may be a mass idiotic act for the most ludicrous reasons performed by what I’m guessing are children who’ve been taught that they are what’s important, sex at anytime and with whomever is morally relative, and creating a baby is just fine if it makes you feel good.
I see ruined lives, poverty, aging parents and relatives footing the bill for a couple of decades and obvious confusion about propriety and responsibility.
Let the copycat stupidity begin.

Is that a picture from Gloucester Mass. classroom ?
Welcome back btw

Hey Alfie,
I’m pretty sure they snagged 3 of the actual kids involved in the fiasco, but don’t hold me to that.
And, thanks!

Hi Hank,
Like Theo- I love the cartoon. It almost made me spray tea on my work pc monitor and keyboard.
Tragic situation — and the babies are stuck with all these obstacles to overcome.
As someone who has a job determining eligibility for food stamps, medicaid, and cash assistance, I can tell you that the working taxpayers will foot these bills for years to come. It’s too bad these children don’t have the decency to give their babies to capable and qualified parents to raise. Nope, it’s either abort (murder) them or raise them. Adoption would be such a loving choice.

Compassion is not about making people dependent on government. Compassion is about encouraging personal responsibility, and getting people to understand that life is about making choices. Poverty does not cause crime. Crime causes poverty. Poverty does not cause a child to have a child. A child having a child causes poverty. Finishing high school is a choice. Not joining a gang is a choice. Not having a child until you have the maturity and the means to raise that child is a choice.

Tammi, you might consider getting one of those little plastic cover thingys or, you know, a little something… just in case. lol
Hank
And, I agree, adoption has it’s associated pain, but often works out for the best.

Tammi,
There you go, being an insensitive conservative again! Adoption is deeply exploitive. It treats young women as baby factories, ruins them emotionally when forced to part with their child that they gestated for nine months, and bestows undeserved favours on heterosexual married couples.
/utter facetiousness
In the world of the pro-abort, anti-child crowd, delivering a baby all the way and giving it to a couple who can raise it well is emotionally devastating. Delivering that child partway and having its brains suctioned out is never, ever, EVER emotionally harmful and is a more moral choice.
GRRRRR.
Okay, food stamp rant. I spent high school studying my brains out, playing varsity sports, working during the summer, babysitting my little siblings, and hanging out with my friends. I did not date. I did not sleep much, either. I then went to college, where I spent four years getting 4-5 hours of sleep a night. Then law school – another 3 years of misery, plus debt. I haven’t gone on a date in years. Most people my age are getting married. I’m sacrificed my personal life, my body, my energy, and most of my 20s to get where I am.
It’ll be my tax dollars going to pay for these hoochie mamas, because, ya know, it wouldn’t be “compassionate” of me to keep any money I earn from my privileged existence. They get to spend their youth partying, doing their nails, and getting laid, then turn around and look to people like me for handouts.
Pissed. Sorry.
June 27, 2008 at 9:55 pm
Yeah, it makes me pissy too. I watch slutty girls that went to high school with Tieki come into my office and start a lifetime of existence on welfare.
I try to look on the bright side — people like this will never be leaders, they just are not smart enough. Therefore, I’m thinking between you and Tiek, world domination is ours for the taking. :)
Oh by the way, most people on welfare truly are just lazy bums. It explains why the DemonRats have to cheat so consistently at the polls — because most people on welfare really are too lazy, stupid, or both to vote. The rats cannot count on them to drag their lazy stupid butts to the polls. Thus, the explanation of why so many dead people end up voting democrat. Just saying.
